Ramsar Convention

Description

This international agreement facilitates the development of domestic policies and legislation to protect wetlands while promoting their "wise use." The agreement provides for a List of Wetlands of International Importance (the List) as designated by the Member States. Each State must designate at least one wetland for inclusion in the List.
