Description
This report summarizes the significant security threats facing the US. The report is provided through the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) and relies on the analysis of all 16 national intelligence agencies. The global economic crisis is pointed to as the most significant security threat facing the US today. Other major threats include “violent Islamic extremism, including the homegrown threat as well as terrorist groups abroad; the "Arc of Instability," which refers to the region from the Middle East to South Asia; the rise of East and South Asia as power centers; growing challenges in Russia and Eurasia; economic crises, narcotics trafficking, and populist regimes in Latin America; economic, societal, and security challenges in Africa; the growing cyber and organized crime threat; and environmental security.”
