Description

COAIB was founded in 1989 following a meeting of a group of indigenous leaders. It is the largest indigenous organization in Brazil, with 75 member organizations from nine Brazilian Amason states (Amazonas, Acre, Amapá, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and Tocantins). Together, these communities account for approximately 430,000 people, representing about 60% of the indigenous populationin Brazil.
