Institut Congolais pour la Conservation de la Nature (ICCN)

Description

The Congolese Institute for Nature Conservation (ICCN) is the semi-government authority in charge of the management of the protected areas in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Various national parks, forest reserves and hunting domains have been set up in the DRC, to protect the extreme richness and diversity of its vegetation and animal life. Most of the northern two-thirds of the country is covered in dense rainforest.

The mandate of ICCN is to control and patrol these protected areas, to collect and analyze data from the field and to facilitate tourism activities where possible.
